Hellooo
My name is Rebecca and I am having surgery on Feb 20..I'm on day 2 of my 14 day pre-surg liquid diet and any tips or tricks that anyone can give me will help. I had a killer headache yesterday but today seems to be better so far (allthough I am def having issues remembering things/diet or just me?). I'm going to say a "nice to meet you" ahead of time and hope I find some great people with good advice here.

thanks :D

Sounds like a cliche, but follow your Dr.'s directions. You don't want to spoil it now.
Many Dr.'s are different.
Mine didn't care what diet I followed, just loose 15 lbs in 2 weeks or he would postpone the surgery.
Just so happens that protein shakes work the best.

Protein curbs hunger along with plenty of water.

Just got banded on the 3rd of this month. About three or four days into the pre op diet my body seemed to start getting used to the hunger. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Tried to keep looking at the bigger picture.

I would have to agree... the first 2 or 3 days I was ready to eat my own shoe, but as the days went on, my body got used to the protein shakes and smaller dinner portion very well. At the end of my two week pre-op, I found I wasn't even hungry anymore. It really is a mind over matter situation when you are doing the pre-op diet.

Keep your eye on the prize!

you can do this :)

Yay- thank you so much for the support! My particular diet is all liquid and my shoes are looking SO tempting. I am a major sugar addict so I think that is what's causing a lot of my headaches. You guys rock..

the protein bars helped me i could have 2 a day but some days just had one and a hot cup of tea with it helped me a lot .but i wasnt hungry with the shakes after first few days it did get better. the 2 days before surgery were the hardest for me cause all i had was jello and ice pops and a little broth the shakes filled you up a lot more

The pre diet is hard. I think a lot of it is a test to see if you'll be compliant when you have the band. I followed exactly what my Dr. said and only ate the approved stuff. I didn't really feel hungry. I will agree those two days before surgery on the clear liquids were horrible. My husband was eating Girl Scout cookies, my son eating a Big Mac, and I was drinking chicken broth. It was miserable.

Make sure u keep hydrated... most times we get headaches during this phase its our body telling us we need water. So when u get the headacheS and dizziness turn to water as ur remedy first. All the best! Water also drowns out the loud 'gurglees' in the tummy. Posted Image

You guys are really fantastic...Mostly I can't believe how much of my day was spent eating/prepping/organizing my food. Maybe it's time to take up knitting to keep my hands busy. What are some of the things you have picked up since your lap-band?

Getting in the habit of drinking water is a good idea. You're going to have to get used to drinking a lot anyway. Might as well start now.
