    Hi Cheryl,

I know the first six weeks are the worst. But keep in mind they are not about losing weight but more about healing and learning how to use your tool.

I am 4 and half years out and I'm doing great. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Feel free to email me directly cher@bandedtogether.net

Oh, I am not a nutritionist, so check with your doctor first! I know, I sound like a commercial.

Hi Cheryl! My surgedry date is 10/14

I am eating a low fat, low carb, high protein, high fiber diet. Which means the following:
Low fat: chicken, fish (if you like it, i don't) grilled, baked or broiled, low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, fat free milk or soy milk
High protein: egg beaters, 2 reg eggs with cheese per week, one serving of beef per week, pork loin

High fiber: apples, pears, broccoli, spinach, garden salad, tomatoes and cukes

That is about it, I am trying to keep it simple. I eat until I am full, every 2-3 hours. Of course lots of water, some tea and a must for me is a cup of coffee everyday. Let me know when you surgery is.

    Hi Cheryl;
I read your post to INDIOGIRL and thought I would respond to you. (hope you don't mind)

I was researching the BAND for 1 yr prior to getting it. My Family Doctor wanted me to try under medical supervision one more time (argh, what makes them think that by being watched it will make any difference) I tried Xenical, Meridia, WW, Overeaters Anon.... you name it I've tried it..
Lap Band was done 1 year ago and even though I had a complication and had to have resurgery to correct I would NOT hesitate to do it again.
I am 60 lbs lighter, healthier, my BP is normal... and I am riding my bike again after 10 years!!! I mean really riding good distances... not just a little jont around the block and calling it exercise.
Some of us banded a year ago are even running marathons!!! Can you imagine yourself being that motivated after losing 100 lbs.??? Well it can happen.

I am NOT selling anything, just sharing my experience, strength and hope.

This site is a great resourse to read, read and read some more... oh and don't forget to ask ANY questions.

p.s. about the skin? well, I'm not at that decision yet, but I am told by others that P.S after your loss will make you real happy with your tummy area.

    Best of luck,
    peaches

How long did you have to wait to get your lap band? The wait is so hard because I want to go ahead and do this while I am in this set of mind. I start thinking and change my mind all the time on things. I really want to do this but when I see something bad it makes my mind wonder. Did you have any problems?

    Hi Cheryl
OK what's more important to you?? Your health or some flabby skin ??

The whole skin issue is about your DNA - how much fat you have and how long the skin has been stretched. Ya I have some - I got a little flap on my tummy - thighs look like they belong to an 80 yr old and my arms really bug me. But most of my imperfections can be covered up with a good bra - spanks and shirts will sleeves. I am not walking around naked - so who really cares

I love the way I feel - I love buying size 10 clothes. I feel ten yrs young - so ya I will take the flabby skin - cuz I hopefully going to live a few extra years now that I have lost almost all my weight.

That's what is important to me and heck I am 53 yrs old
I am NEVER going to have the body of a 20 yr old again.

Also, that what plastic surgeons are for - Tummy tuck - breast augmentations etc...

    Good Luck...
