Hi, I am from Richmond and now live in King George. I am almost 51 and having just enough medical stuff going on to make me know that I need to get in controll of the weight. Went to the seminar on Sat. and will submitt paperwork tomorrow. I am covered by TriCare and more that 100 lbs. over weight. I am so ready for this and so very scared. Hope you two will help me out.

Hi! I live in Richmond and just decided in the last month to get the Lap Band surgery. I have met the surgeon, done the psychological eval, gotten a letter of medical necessity from my PCP, and met with the nutritionist. Now, I am just waiting for approval from my insurance. I expect to get the surgery in August or September (my work schedule would make it hard to get anytime before then). My husband is on board (though he would never ask me to have weight loss surgery and he is afraid that I will die on the table or something). I am looking to get to know other people in Virginia who are also going through with this journey.

Hi my name is Erin. I am 33. I live in Spotsylvania, an hour north of Richmand and just over an hour south of Washington DC. I am a registered nurse at a 300 bed hospital in Fredericksburg. I have been heavy most of my life not morbidly but above average. Since high school I have continued to put weight on, struggled with diets and had no success. I have a wonderful husband who I have yet to tell about my desire to have the LB. He has never once said anything about my weight. I am nervous to tell him. I kinda feel sometimes that I am taking the easy way out, not that this process or experience is easy. I think what is wrong with me that I can't lose weight, others do it. But for now I worry about my health and need to do something that will be my tool for life long weight control and improved health.:thumbup:

Meet with my doctor on 7-2 to start the process. I have been approved just have to get all the pretesting completed. This website has provided me with lots of information. The more I read the more questions I have for my Doctor. I know this is a life long change and I pray that I have the strength and dedication to lose weight and get healthy for myself, my husband and my beautiful son. Looking to make a friend or pal that has been through the process that might be willing to share all the details good and bad about their LB journey. I look forward to meeting you all.
