Sades,
Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. I don't remember the radio series (I don't think it was available here at least not in all markets) but I do remember the book. I read it as a teenager when I was questioning everything. Excellent reminder that 95% of the battle can be figuring out what to ask.
Did you read Tom Robbins' books in Australia (Jitterbug Perfume, Skinny Legs and All, Even Cowgirls get the Blues, etc....)? Gosh, now I have a hankering to read them again.
You know, I sat at that same damn weight for a month. Then, I went on vacation, ate more than usual for five days, and then got back to my routine. It was like the extra food boosted my metabolism and lets a few pounds flop off. I'm going to try it again in a few weeks. It's pretty fun.

It's fun going down memory lane sometimes. I've never read Tom Robbins but I used to do a lot of reading. Not so much these days, the computer's taken it over.
Glad to hear you're doing well, I wish I could get some more weight off but I seem to be stuck on this weight. I need to do something different to jump start mine as well... hmmm, maybe stop eating too much? I shouldn't be smiling about that!!

So Foofy, the secret to getting off a few quick pounds is to eat more than usual for a few days and then get back on track? Sounds like a great plan if only that would work for me! I would just gain a few and then lose the same pounds.

I'm sticking by that. A month of careful calorie counting didn't do anything, until I spent 5 days eating softshell crabs, pulled pork, fried oysters in garlic aioli, and cuban chicken with black beans. I also drank a few mojitos. OMG!!!
Then, when I got back in the calorie counting saddle - BAM - down 2.5 pounds!

Had a blast and felt like a couple of teenagers. Also drank a couple of Mojito coolers they were selling at a concession stand. Oh yeah...Maybe that's why I gained a pound overnight again!

Ok now that I am back from vacation, I really am hoping to jump up my weight loss. I have been hovering in the 182-185's for way too long now, I want to see the 170's.

I am loving the low carb way of eating and the exercise...it has really kick started my metabolism. It's on fire...not to mention that I think I am at my sweet spot. I am just not as hungry...that might be the low carb eating but I will take it.

Cindy, you're losing at such a fast pace. Everytime I check, you're down another pound! We have about the same amount of pounds left till we reach our final goals. I need to jump on the bandwagon with you the rest of the way!

Cindy - I'm too late to congratulate you on your 50 pounds down! You're 51 now! It feels good, eh?
Foofy - do you think you lost because you were eating mainly low-carb? I just noticed from what you posted it seemed to be mainly meat dishes.
Hollyberries - tell me more about your Atkins plan. Have you lost much since you started? Atkins always worked well for me in the past. I have a theory about all of us who have such a hard time losing weight, that we are all allergic to sugar, and that's why it's so hard unless we follow a low-carb diet.

Linda,
Nah. There were carbs in there (rice, mashed potatoes, cheesecake, sigh), I just didn't write about them (too embarassing). I think it was really just a shake up to the old routine.
When not on vacation, I rarely eat bread or much sugar, so I am low-ish carb most of the time, but almost never as low as Atkins. I did Atkins before a couple of times and lost weight but gained it all back plus more.
