I haven't been on for awhile, I started my pre-op liquid diet this past Monday. I have been doing okay on it. I have 13pounds so far, but I feel guitly because I was told if in an "emergency" I can replace a lean quisene dinner for 2 of my shakes in the evening. I have done this two so for this week. I also ate like 6 grapes last night. The hardest thing for me is that when my husband leaves at night for work that is when I eat. I keep telling myself I got to do better. Then I tell myself well I could of done a lot work and ate more. I am just confused. I get banded on the 21st and I can't wait. But then I am scared to death on how much my life is going to change.. Does anyone else feel like this?? And I am really doing that bad but kind of sort of cheating on my liquid diet??

Hi Susan,
I'm on the 21st also, and on the yucky liquid pre-op diet. I feel for you! The hardest part for me is feeding the kids. If I can stay away from the kitchen, I'm pretty OK. But, inevitably, it's "Mom, I want a snack... Mom, it's time for dinner... Mom, can we have dessert tonight?" My nutritionist told me if I have to have something to chew that I can eat skinless chicken breast or boiled egg whites. To be honest, I'm finding that if I do eat the chicken or eggs it makes it harder! I just want to eat more, does that make sense? So, for today, I have had protein shakes, broth, water, and 2 egg whites.

Yes, I understand what you are saying about life changing. It's a scary road. I've always been the fat girl, that's who I am. Now that I'm loosing that (hopefully!) I need to work on myself and figure out who my real self is and appreciate that. Hang in there. You are not alone. If it helps, we can check in with eachother to verify what we are eating... rather, not eating, and making sure we are sticking to our plans. We can do this!

thanks for the incouragement. I think I would of been a lot better the first week, but on the 2nd day my kid sister-in-law that we are raising, we found out that she is flunking out of 6th grade. I could of ate a whole pizza. The girls at work told me chew on ice which I did. I think the hardest thing for me is going to be to change my habits at night.

I told my family the next 2weeks they are feeding themselves and we haven't been eating together. But if they do eat in front of me they ask. We did go to the store and by my broth, applesauce and some sf pudding. So I am prepared.

I think I am just ready for the surgery to over with!!!!!!!!!!!!:faint:

Rebecca,

That is awesome! Be sure to check in with us and let us know how it goes. Oh, I can just imagine how you are feeling. I'll be in your shoes next week at this time!

I think I am just ready for the surgery to over with!!!!!!!!!!!!:faint:

Susan,
I am the same way. When I get stressed out all I want to do is eat. That's one of those changes we are going to be forced to make. I'm just trying to keep busy and I find myself on this sight more and more. It's helping, but it's still hard. We'll get there....

SElaine - the pre-op diet gets easier . . . . and then harder . . . . . .and then easier . . . . . . .and then harder . . . . . catch my drift?

I don't know the ages of your kids but i sent my oldest to the grocery store with one of my twins and told them to buy what they wanted to eat for the next week. When they ask me whats for dinner I say,"I don't know, what did you buy?" after a couple of days, they quit asking. Youcould send them with dad if their to young to go by themselves. The down side is they spent $162.00 on mostly junk food.

Well, I'm another one scheduled May 14th and I'm doing really well. Today I discovered "Better Than Bouillon" and peach juice so I could have something a bit different. It really helped. My twin sister and grown daughter are in town for Mother's Day so it's great to have a distraction these last few days. We went to a bunch of flea markets yesterday, then the others ate at a Mexican restaurant. I brought along a cooler with a protein drink and yogurt and was amazed that I could just sit there and have that with a huge bowl of tortilla chips within easy reach.

I'm still not the least bit nervous, but the last few nights I have only slept for from 3 to 5 hours each night. I think I just don't sleep well when I'm hungry, not sure.

My Dr. waits until the day before surgery to give a hospital arrival time and mine is 6:30, so I should be near the first on the list. I'm glad about that because it means less chance of delays. Okay, that's all I have now but I will do my best to get in here and post an update on Monday evening. Best wishes to all, pre-op, post-op and those who will get the procedure t in the coming week.

That's what I figured, too! But then you read stuff and seems different. I am just going to stick with what the dr. says!!
Thanks for the input!

ok, day 5 post-op and I'm actually feeling much better. nausea is GONE but I have these nasty hiccups every once in a while. My incisions only hurt minimally but I'm still pretty swollen. I've finally been able to get some things down beside water--I'm taking my Isopure Zero carb water and diluting it (4 ounces Isopure/2 ounces water) and it tastes MUCH better and I'm able to get a whole bottle in, which I did yesterday.
I went and re-read my post-op diet instructions and I am supposed to be on clears for 2 weeks and then I advice to a soft diet! :paranoid kinda weird--so what i think I'm going to do is on Monday, I'll be 1 week out and I'm going to advance myself to full liquids only to see if I tolerate it so that when I see my surgeon and am advanced to soft foods I can do it. Does that sound bad?

How is everyone else doing? Hope everyone is healing well! :clap2:
