What's the mushie stage?

I'm sure I should already know this information, but for some reason it has passed me right by. My doc has prescribed 1 week of full liquids (today's the last day, THANK GOODNESS) and 4 weeks of "pureed and strained foods". Does that mean I fully skipp the full liquid phase and moved right on to mushies? Are mushies different from pureed and strained? I don't follow.

Pureen and strained sounds like it may be full liquid - are they requiring you to strain out any chunks? This is my full liquid menu:

Beverages:
Skim or 1% milk
Low sugar, decaffeinated, non-carbonated fluid (crystal light, Fruit2o, etc)
Low sugar, low fat, high protein supplements (CIB, Protein shakes)

Dairy products
Low fat, light yogurt
SF, FF Pudding & custard
Low fat cottage cheese (blended)

Soup
Low fat cream soups thinned down with 1 cup low fat milk (strained of chunks or blended)
Low fat broth

Miscellaneous
Plain hot cream of wheat or otameal (must be pourable consistancy)
SF popsicle
unsweetened applesauce
SF gelatin

I am on this diet until 3 weeks post op.

Good luck,

Mushy and Pureed foods are different, mushy is foods like refried beans, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs,oatmeal.. those are not pureed food, to me pureed would mean full liquids anything that would go through a straw, you can blend anything to make it pureed ( no chunks) is what I was told

Here's a link to a handy thread that I found helpful.

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/LAP-BAND®-food-stages-lists-suggestions-3995/

You need to follow YOUR docs diet recommendations, but the lists have great ideas for what "counts" and what doesn't. Hope it helps.
