Hello,
I have been banded for 8 weeks and I was just wondering what is the normal amount of food I should be able to eat at one setting. I need to know if I need a fill. I can eat a whole peanut butter sandwich or I can eat 2 chicken thighs(baked) and 1/2 cup of green beans, or I can eat 1 1/2 cups of salad as long as it is lite on veggies and mostly lettuce. It seems like so much compared to at 4 and 5 weeks that it makes me think it is time for a fill. Any advise?
Thanks
Jody

As far as I can tell, there is no such thing as normal.
well, have you checked how many calories you are getting in a day? Are you still losing 1-2 pounds a week?
I've just moved to solids, and i was a little worried that I was eating way too much. There is a huge difference in one of my little pots of liverwurst and cream cheese, and a plate of real dinner with veggies and stuff!

Vinesqueen is right, there is no such thing as normal. You are now fully healed and don't have a fill, so it is totally possible that you can eat almost as much as you could pre-band. If your weight loss stops, and/or you find yourself getting hungry much sooner after a meal than you can handle, a fill might indeed be indicated. If you're still cruising along, comfortable between meals and eating no more than you need to feel satisfied at meals, then enjoy it!
At some point your body will probably adjust to the lower calorie level and your weight loss will stop, and that will be plenty of time for a fill. You're not racing anyone and the adjustments will always be there if you need them.

Lady, I just had my first fill on friday,6 weeks after surgery I told my doc that I felt like I could eat a side of beef at night I told her that I was ok all day but at night I was Hungry,so I got my first fill of 1 cc. Before my fill I ate 2 chicken thighs broccoli and a salad for dinner with a ton of water now I am back on mushies for today then start reg food tomorrow. Like everyone else has said it is all personal as to how much is normal, listen to your body and it will tell you.

I actually called my doctor at 9 weeks and said the same thing. He told me to come on in. I told him that I felt like I was able to eat more too. He said then lets try your first fill. It definately made a difference. But if you are still losing at least 1 to 2 lbs a weeks, you are still on the right track. And, I can eat a ton of salad! I can sometimes eat a whole sandwich. I do better on some days than others. Just kind of watch it and if you feel like maybe you may need a fill, call your doctor as I did!
