What The Heck Is In Crystal Light?!

Water has always been and probably always will be my favorite drink. I have CIB drink with Smart Milk (10g protien in milk 5g in CIB)or a Slim Fast Optimum (10g protein) for breakfast, half of my 17oz Myoplex Shake (42g protein) for lunch and the other half for dinner. I drink on water all day long. At night once the kids are sleep I have my 'me' time, which usually is me online on reading a book. Online has been my eating time in the past. I eat and surf. I use to pull out my secret stash and get busy, now I have a cup of soup. Last night I noticed that I wanted something else but it was not hunger...I think I just wanted taste. So I had two glasses or Chystal Light and it did the trick.
1. The stuff is too sweet
2. It has a horrible after taste
3. It dehydrates me so bad!

3 is what I am relly complaining about. It is 11:30 am about 12 hours after I drank the stuff last night and a gazillion ounces of water later and I still have dry mouth with white tongue. I was fine until I drank that crap!

Has anyone else experienced this?

There is a lot of wonder in a slice or two of lemon, or oranges, in a pitcher of water....

and a host of herbal teas that satisfy....

or find a good quality gensing tea as a tonic....

Artificial sweeteners all give me grief and I avoid them.

Yes Jack I agree, did you see my other post about liquid Stevia? I'm a herbal tea, habicus loving, lemonade drinking gal. How much liquid stevia to a pitcher? I'm leaving that Chyrstal light alone!

Everyone's tastes are different. I absolutely love the crystal lite lemonade but have been sticking to mostly water since my surgery 10 days ago. Maybe you'd be better brewing some fresh iced tea?

I don't generally care for adding even stevia to my fluids....just got out of the habit over my long career with insulin injections....

The past few years 'chai' tea has been a big commercial push in this part of Oregon....but it is way too sweet for me....I guess that's part of their intent and marketing program.

I used to drink a number of commercial teas with hibiscus in them. They were wonderful hot, and even better iced. I don't recall their name.

If you are looking for a home made sun tea, I got a recipe from an herbalist years ago...using ginger root, anise stars and something else, I'll have to dig out the other ingredient if you are interested.

It's doesn't dehydrate me, I love the lemonade, but artifical sweetners will slow/stall my weightloss. I learned this when on Atkins. It's a common phenomenon, esp. whem combined with a low-carb diet.

I find that lemonade in any form makes my little tummy hurt from the acid. I have started drinking Crystal Light again (the Peach Tea one especially) and you know what- it tastes darn good and it get me to drink my water. I don't know if it has slowed/stalled my weight loss or not. I should do an experiment. Huh...interesting...
