Since being banded, has anyone used weight loss centers such as Weight Watchers, Jenny, etc. Have they helped? Thanks!

I'm just 5 weeks with the band but I've been thinking of calling Jenny Craig and seeing if I can buy their food without actually participating in the plan. I am a lifetime member so wouldn't need to re sign with them. I just want to buy some of their foods, not all. Most of their meals have good protein counts for minimal calories and fat. They are nice to keep on hand in the freezer when you can't decide what to make yet need something high in protein.

Thanks, Weight!
I was thinking now that the band helps with appetite, it would be easier to stay on a plan. I like the idea of having some good meals on hand in a pinch.
Congratulations to you on your recent Lap Band. I hope you have the best recovery.

I joined Weight watchers 2 months ago. I found that having to go in to be weighed every week really helped me stay on track. I was kind of floundering around going up 2 lbs and then down 2 lbs and not getting anywhere. Now I really concentrate on what I am eating and working harder at losing. Helps me focus my motivation.
I have been very happy with my new system. I haven't told them I am banded and usually don't stay for the meetings. Weighing in is all I need from them. But when I get to Lifetime, I'll take it!
Success on your journey!

Weightisover, if you can't purchase the Jenny Craig meals alone have you considered Nutrisystem? If you have a Big Lots near you, they often stock the meals at a very reasonable price. Nutrisystem also has high protein with low fat and low calories. Just a possible alternative for anyone who doesn't want to actually follow/join a program...if they have a Big Lots near them!

I put an order in for nutrisystem. I like food well enough and I'm able to get in all of my protein and then some if I stick to it. I tried it a couple of years ago and just couldn't stick with it because I was so hungry all the time. However, now I find that it's actually a bit too much food at times. It's a good texture and I don't have any problems eating any of the food.

Twice to break a plateau and help DH with his weight loss efforts we've gone on Lite n Easy which is a home delivered meal system here in australia.
both times I've lost weight fast, easily and really well on it. But we never keep it going more than four or five weeks. I get so fed up with being told what to eat, and banded, the menu just doesnt appeal to me so much anymore. I cant eat all of the food, and its so expensive, $125 each and we still have to feed the kids. The dinners get to me after a while too.
But it gets my intake down under 1000 calories (since I cant get through the 1200 it provides!) and the weight FALLS off me. I'm seriously considering it one last time to get down to 67kgs.

I had joined ww while I was waiting to be banded and did very well on it, as I had been also going through the classes through my clinic and seeing a psychologist and was really ready for the committment.
After being banded, I haven't gone back to the meetings, but I still follow the flex point program (to a degree). I usually stay at around 20 points, rather than the amount I am allowed. I find it helpful though as by journalling and following the plan, I am eating nutritious food and finding creative ways to add as much fiber to my diet as I can. At this point, I usually count calories (around 1000-1200/ day) rather than points, but I can still tell you how many points I eat on any given day .
If I were struggling, I know the accountability of weekly weigh-ins is really helpful for me, so I would go back in a heartbeat.
