That monstrosity looks like a heart attack waiting to happen!! I like deep fried onion rings but not like that!! (The best ones are served by the fish and chip shops - real onions, cut into thick 1/2" rings, battered and deep fried with the fish, not those tasteless imitation McD's ones that are all batter and no onion!)

Oooh, all that golden fried goodness..... Just don't ever look in the bottom of the basket after you're done. That trip to yummy-land will be over immediately.

I have to say, I have eaten the cheese fries at outback on more than one occassion (not by myself, but still). Never again, especially since my band and fries don't get along, which is a super good thing!

I have to say that most of the stuff on the list sounds really good to me. I'm gonna pull a "Jack" and post #1 on the list. I've had it before and it is soooooo good!

Click the image to open in full size.

Lets see if this one comes through Georgia, you have to imagine the tub of ranch dressing at the side.

I've tried a bloomin onion.....while it tasted pretty good, the coating of thick grease stuck to my teeth just about made me gag. I like little baby onions boiled in my stew. MUCH better.

My dissapointment???? P.F. Changs.... Crap, that was one of my favorite restaurants.

As for lamb..... I LOVE it. Being a Texas girl, liking lamb is like being a traitor or sacriledge or something. No one eats lamb in Texas much. I got some wonderful lamb chops for $2.99 a pound the other day. They practically give it away when they can't sell it. I like it grilled, in lentil stew, roasted and curried. I'm the only one in my family that will eat it. Their loss, my gain. :)

oh dear... here we go with the pictures again. Good thing I'm not hungry tonight! I guess I am also lucky that fries dont go well with my band.

Hungry or not... those cheese fries look GOOD!

Thanks NukeChik......guess I shouldn't have been trying to "steal". Who knew copying and pasting was stealing, especially if it let you copy it???

Anyway, thanks for putting it up!

Mamato3- As good as the picture looks, fries do not do well with my band either. It's too frustrating to try to eat them. I would much rather have the Bloomin Onion, yum!

These types of food are EVERYWHERE here! Now I know how it was soooo easy to get so big!

Thank goodness Waffle House doesn't make Bloomin' Onions, huh?

Hey - does anyone else watch those reality food shows (Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen) and did you stop when you had your surgery? My husband and I watch them, get so hungry, and then eat. Will I need to cut those out of my life for a while, too? Please say no since I love those shows so much!!!

I've never watched the 2 you mentioned, but I watch the Food Network all the time. They have competitive shows on there that I like to watch. I like Throwdown with Bobby Flay, The Next Food Network Star, not to mention all the challenge competitions. I watch Iron Chef sometimes, there are lot of times I would never eat the secret main ingredient.

I still love to watch cooking shows though and I try to come up with healthier ways to cook some of things I really love.

I think I watch more cooking shows now then I ever watched prior to getting my band. Like Georgia Girl said.... I just try to come up with healthier ways to make some of the things I see. My favorite is Rachael Ray and we all know that her recipes are not usually of the healthy variety. I also make some recipes for my family and just pick out the protein and veggies and try to steer away from the starches.

I gave them up...I also gave up watching commercials thanks to my DVR. There are more food commercials on kids' TV than there are toy commercials.

Food is everywhere, and it's bad, bad food. I'm going to start thinking of it as porn, that bloomin' onion and those cheese fries are triple X rated. I just don't need to see it!

But no, I don't watch the cooking shows because I was one to go print off the recipes and try them... It's just too tempting.

I love, love, love Top Chef, I've watched it since the beginning. I have to say, I'm not as impressed with the chef's this season, but it still rocks.

Love to watch Food Network, they do have a couple of healthy cooking shows, like Cooking Healthy?? with Ellie Kreiger (sp?) and the woman that does the morphing meals. Like she'll make pork tenderloin on Monday and then have 3 nights worth of different meals. I liked the original japan version of Iron Chef better than Iron Chef America.

I still watch all the shows, but I don't cook much anymore. I just don't eat it. I can eat what I used to as a snack for a meal. I'm also really bad at grocery shopping now, cuz my man likes for me to buy all the snack stuff and I just don't do it anymore. He's going to have to start doing the grocery shopping!!

Before my surgery Paula Dean was my FAV. She reminds me of my Granny. Yes thats what I call her, I'm from Louisiana. She cooks like my Granny too.

Now I like to watch Turning up the heat with Gavin.

I've been really into cooking shows lately.

Oh and Nukechick thank you soooo much for posting this. I called my mom and we compared favorites that we swore never to try again. My parents and little sister LOVE Outback's cheesefries, and I liked the blooming onion. I love Chili's chicken crispers. I didn't usually order them bc I try to stay away from fried things but now I have renewed my "baked only" commitments. Thank you.

I copied and pasted this in my Feb 08 support group, I hope you don't mind. I wanted more people to read it.
