Texas Rangers' Big Dog

The Texas Rangers is selling a sandwich called "The Big Dog" at their games this year. It costs $8.50. It is a half-pound hot dog (440 calories) (50 grams of fat) and that doesn't include the fixin's.

These are some educated guesses on the final outcome:

The bun is a foot long - and still doesn't envelop the whole dog. A 6 inch Rainbo hot dog bun has 110 calories so double that and it's 220.

The dog is smothered with chili, cheese and onions. One serving of Wolf Brand chili, which is a cup contains 390 calories.

A quarter-cup serving of Buena Comida cheddar cheese sauce is 70 calories.

We'll give you a pass on the onions, and help yourself to ketchup, mustard and relish.

But, even without those, here's the unofficial Big Dog Scoreboard:

1,120 Calories
84 grams of fat
33 grams of saturated fat
175 mg of cholesterol
3,630 mg of sodium

I think I will pass on this one! If you do indulge, remember it is a long season, pace yourself! :D :D

I'd be passing on that one too Betty! That's a heart attack on a bun just waiting to happen! UGH!

Sounds delicious, and probably would have tackled it preband, but those days are a thing of the past, especially these days, when 2 chicken wings are too much. I have tons of restriction right now and can't seem to eat too much of anything solid. So I guess I'll pass too.
