Summer BBQ's

I'm newly banded and having quite reached the "real food" stage yet. But by mid-April I will. I always end up attending many BBQ's over the summer. What will I be able to eat? The norm that is served at BBQ's are burgers, hotdogs, steak, potato salad, tossed salad. Will I still be able to eat these types of foods??

Yes, just not very much of them. I can usally get down 1/4 of a burger, 1/2 of a hot dog, 1-2 oz of a steak and a bite or 2 of potato salad. I would try and keep with the tossed salad and the steak. That way you are getting in the best protein. Good luck.

I know we are suppose to chew, chew, chew. But is it small bites too or regular bites with the chew, chew, chew? How big are the pieces of food suppose to be?

The food should be the size of a teaspoon or the size of a pencil eraser. Make sure you really cut the meat up to that size. Good luck and enjoy.

I was advised that my bites should be no larger than the size of a dime.

I always just choose a small piece of meat - a sausage or a burger are "safer" for me, and a lot of salad - I avoid the potato salads and the like.

I might have a glass of wine, even two, dont usually eat dessert unless its fruit which I might have a pick at.

The main thing I find is to avoid the nibblies before the meal.

Baked beans, 1/2 burger, potato chip (tee hee). Just like normal. This is what is so great about the band. Just take it slow.....
