I haven't eaten anything from Subway since being banded. I have, however, eaten tortillas and haven't had trouble with them.

I can do tortillas so far, but I take tiny bites, chew to absolute goo, and only swallow slow bits at a time. About two tiny bites into it and - hey - this is NOT worth all the work! So I don't do tortillas, even though I can. :)

IME low carb whole grain-based products are easier to chew than white flour based ones because they don't gum up as much, and break apart with much less effort.

I haven't eaten at Subway but I have eaten tortilla with no problem. If you try it, make sure to take tiny bites and WAIT between bites to see if it's gonna go. Even if it DOES go, keep waiting between bites - you never know if it's gonna 'ball up' on you and stick. I agree with Wheetsin, the grain types are less likely to stick and are better for you anyway. Have you thought about lettuce wraps instead of tortilla wraps? It would be a better choice but I don't know if they offer them at Subway.

The hardest part of this journey, for me, is waiting between bites.

Good luck to you.

I normally just get the tuna on a salad. I still have issues with bread but I try.

Check out www.nutritiondata.com for fast food nutritional information. I didn't see a Subway wrap listed, but did find several others. For example, a Blimpie chicken caesar wrap has 650 calories, 35g fat, 56g carbs, and 25g of protein.

I used to have a terrible time with both the wraps and the tortillas. The wraps would go down sometimes, but the tortillas just didn't.

In the last couple of months (I'm about 22 months out form surgery), I have been able to eat things things without a problem, and some breads.

I believe that the subway wrapper is something less than 100 cals.

According to the website, the Turkey Wrap, is 190 calories. This is with no sauce or cheese:

"Turkey Breast: Wrap, turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, red onions, green peppers, pickles and olives."

I usually get that one with mustard, as mustard is really low cal. :)

I get the turkey breat wrap at Subway and can eat 1/2 - 3/4 of it if I'm careful with chewing really well and waiting between bites. Didni't have any problems.

I haven't had any Subway bread since surg, last June 2, 2005. I will get a Tuna Subway with all the trimming and just eat the guts. I just haven't been able to do bread at all. I've tried tortilla's a couple time, with bad results- so I stay away...

I love the Subway wraps, but I dont eat them often. The Turkey Breast Wrap is probably the best choice nutritionally (this is without dressing):

190 calories
6g fat
18g carbs
24g protein

I can only eat half of one so I figure 95 calories and 12g protein is a really healthy lunch choice as far as "fast food" type places.

I can't handle bread, but tortillas and wraps don't give me any trouble. I had my one and only PB because of bread and that was one to many.

I cannot do breads, tortillas, bagels..........
In meetings and such where sandwiches or wraps are served I just eat the meat.
When I am at home I will sometimes try a bite of bread but I always get stuck.
