How do you guys deal with eating out post op? Do you just order from the kids menu or do you order a full meal and half it?

I agree with Kelly, depends on where we go.
I eat Wendy's chili alot, or at another fast food place, I'll get a salad.
Sometimes at Burger King, Ill eat a couple of their chicken tenders (NEVER wouldve thought Id say that I could eat 'a couple of chicken tenders'!)
As far as a restaurant, Im like Marie, I go for the appetizers, or ask the waiter what's a 'smaller' sized meal.... ALWAYS have leftovers.
:)

I agree too, it really depends on where we go. I sometimes order a bowl of soup or something like that and just eat a little off my DH plate, then other times I order a whole meal, although most of the time I don't get to bring it home, DH eats it too! :D

If it is a small local restaurant and you go there quite a bit, ask for a half order. This is what I do at our local seafood place that I just love and they are so accommodating. Also, they have the best gelato there and occasionally I will have some and they will bring it to me in a small tartar sauce cup. About 1-2 tablespoons. Even with order half-orders, I sometimes have leftovers. Also, don't be afraid to ask for a take-out container when your food is delivered. There are several places we go to that they know now that there is no way I will finish my meal and they do that for me.
Don't be afraid to ask. When we go out for breakfast I order a half omelet or just 1 egg and 2 sausage links. Most places I find will go out of there way to help you.

I am not yet baned and have a lot of dumb questions
What are the NO NO foods you cannot eat?. I hear unprocessed meat is one like beef.
What if you cut it into tiny wee bites?
Thanks TINK

I guess when summer gets here I'll have to put a cooler in my car to keep my left over restaurant food in. I always order a regular meal and eat maybe half, depends on how close to the fill. After a fill on Wednesday, I wouldn't order more than a cup of soup. Nearing a fill I'd easily order a meal, eat part then bring the rest home for another meal or two, if my son didn't eat it first.

Good luck Annette, and welcome to LBT. You will find a wealth of information and good friends here.
Go to the food site and you will find all kinds of threads relating to the first few weeks as well ongoing foods.
Any direct questions, just ask, I'm sure at least one of us has had an experience similiar to your question.

When I am with people that don't know about the band, I usually get soup and salad. Those are 2 things that always go down. Otherwise, I get a normal sized meal and get a doggy bag. It is usually healthier than the appetizer menu which usually consists of "Fried" something, nachos, or potato skins

Usually, when I have lunch out with my sisters/friends (who don't know I'm banded!), I have soup - If the kids want a Burgerking once in a while, like Paula, I eat 2 of their chicken tenders! Today we went out for lunch (it's Mother's Day here!) and I had a chicken and goats cheese salad - I just ate the chicken and cheese and left the leaves and croutons! Mostly, like everyone else, I just have the apetizers...
Annette - Greetings Neighbour! I'm in Ireland!
