Hi everyone!
I have a surgery date! YEAH... may 4th... so now my mind starts churning with this time that I have left.....
OK - I have heard that most are tight when they wake up and can not tolerate (?) anything but eggs... of protein drink.... Is this true for you?
The reason I ask.... I work midnights and DH works days... so the only meal we have together is his dinner (my breakfast). :hungry: I eat the same as him... i.e. chicken, veggie, etc. (I do not eat american breakfast food when I wake up at 4 or 6 pm... lol)
I know everyone is different... I am trying to getr a feeling of what it could be like for me in the future... and how I am going to deal with things....
Thank you in advance for any help with my silly question...

Not a silly question - Congrats on your surgery date!
I haven't noticed being tighter in the morning, but I know several people have. I generally don't eat as soon as I get up, usually a couple of hours later, so that may be why.
I myself personally can't tolerate eggs at all and know several others with that experience. You will probably be fine as long as you are eating band friendly food. Good luck!

I work the over night shift at work. So I normally eat breakfast at work and find I am not tight. I work 11pm to 9am. Then I usually sleep from 10:30am till 3-4pm. Then have dinner with DH around 5-6pm. Sometimes I am tight when I first get up, so we have a little later supper so I can actually eat. It must be the sleeping and laying down that makes people tight. Best of luck to you!

Congrats on getting your banding date. I havent had any problems with eating in the mornings, matter of fact my doctor tells me I should eat first chance I get in the mornings so that my metobalism kicks as soon as possible.
I think it might just be what you are use to, but like you all said we are different.
Good luck and keep us posted

I've heard that eating a lighter dinner and making sure that it's all washed out of your pouch before you go to sleep is the way to not be quite so tight in the morning. I haven't actually put that into conscious practice yet, so I couldn't tell you if it works, but I am very tight lots of mornings.

| tight stoma
hey all, Dr. Kuri did tell us that if your stoma is tight in the A.M. then you should try eating your largest meal at your lunch meal, and have a lite dinner,as having a heavy meal in your pouch overnight irritates the stoma, and causes it to swell. Also if you feel tight try a cup of something hot when you first get up like tea, hot lemon water or coffee. I prefer green tea.

When I was banded, my belly was shut down for business till at least noon. It's normal for anyone to be tight in the mornings, but there's no telling what your body will do until it's banded.
As far as food choices, you should be able to eat almost everything and anything you eat now, only in slow motion and moderation. Some people have problems with bread or dry chicken, but if you take tiny bites and chew till it's liquid, you should still be able to enjoy most foods.

I can not eat breakfast and can only sip on liquids in the morning. Hot liquids are easier to drink. I eat lunch at 11:30 or 12. Since my 4th fill of 2.9cc I can not eat that much 4-6oz. Dinner is ok i can do about 8oz. I was able to eat breakfast up until my 3rd fill. Everyone is different, you maybe able to eat breakfast.
