Protein Shake Calories

I used mydailyplate.com and figured out that my protein shake is 429 calories. Might that be too many?
  • Chocolate soy milk
  • protein powder
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter (10g of extra protein)
It's delicious!!!!

That sounds like a lot for one meal, but it depends what else you're eating...

That sounds really high! I personally would not want to drink that many calories. Do you drink it as a meal or snack? How many grams of protein does it have? What is your average calories per day (including the shake)?

I personally like the low carb slim fast. It has 190 calories/20g protein. If I weren't so tight in the mornings I would probably just eat all of my protein, but I can't eat first thing.

A few suggestions to reduce cal

use skim milk (if less). not chocolate.
use SF choc syrup (davini has one) (15-30 cal)
use PB2 (just google it..it's amazing and only 52 cal for 2 tbsp)!!

i think that your protein shake is only too many calories if it doesn't fill you up for a while. but if you drink it at 7 and don't want lunch until noon or 1, then it's fine, especially if it is really high in protein and not high in carbs. i have a shake like this that i make, and it fills me up for hours. slimfast has half the cals, but only fills me for 2, maybe 3 hours, so i end up eating the same amount of cals as if i'd had the good shake.

I agree, you really have to list what else your eating. If your high cal shake is satisfying you enough to make it through lunch, then your good!

Protidiet shakes...Thank you for the tip (not sure who it was?)

I just purchased 60 Protidiet shakes on line. Each netted out to be $1.52 each as there was a coupon code "SAVE10" . Each shake comes in a handy little plastic bottle that you can throw in your purse/backpack and are water based. Each of them have 15 grams of protein and 80-90 calories. Best thing since sliced bread! I purchased sugar free syrups from Starbucks; hazelnut, mocha and carmel. Just ask your server. They range from $6.99 to $10 and can be added to any shake which adds so much flavor.

hope2bhealthy--thanks for the thoughts. I made a shake this morning at 6:45a.m. I made myself eat lunch at 1:00---I wasn't hungry...so I'd say that the calories in the shake is alright. However, I think that I will try to find lower calorie chocolate soy milk.
