Protein Bars

Okay-I have a question. For the last few days I have been eating a protein bar for breakfast, lunch and dinner-and I lost 3 lbs! I don't get my first fill for about 2 weeks, and I wonder if it will be easy to eat the protein bars, and how much will I be able to eat?

Thanks!
Joan

I have had 3 fills..in the beginning protein bars were easy,,not so easy anymore with 2.5cc's in my band. I just eat my chicken , eggs, cheese, lunch meats, tuna now to get in my protein, it seems to stay with me longer in my pouch. Every now and then I will have one but only nibble on it. So to answer your question it all depends on your fill level, everyone is different and has different opinions on protein bars.

I like to have a protein bar sometimes, while on the go, but you will see that you can't eat them for 3 meals a day for 2 long. That is only about 600 calories and you have lost quite a bit of water. I'll bet you could eat some pretty good stuff for under 700 calories a day. Try turkey breast, egg salad, tuna, shrimp with cocktail sauce and chicken. Good luck. Maybe even add a protein bar in for a snack (1/2 of bar 2 times). It almost feels like your eating a candy bar

I eat a protein bar for breakfast almost every day. They dissolve to nothing in my mouth and so are easy to eat when I'm tight. But I get very sick of them sometimes, so I know I certainly couldn't eat them for three meals a day. They're too sweet! Even the Atkins kind which is low in sugar.

Do be sure to read the labels, since some of them are LOADED with sugar and carbs. Atkins has a good ratio of the various nutrients, including 10 grams of fiber.

Check out the world of SOUP! There are lots of high-protein yummy soups out there if you're tight. And bean and lentil soups also pack in the fiber.

It takes me a while to eat a Zone bar, 16g protein, and it's a lot of chewing. My son uses a bar by Detour and loves them. I think they taste like thick paper, like I'm chewing a phone book, LOL. I'll stick with my zone bars.

since I was banded. I cannot even think about food until about 10 am. I eat about 1/2 an Atkin's protein bar. I think the peanut butter ones are the best they taste like a peanut butter cup.
