I dont pay any attention to protein and really would eat far less than lots of people here, and I've had no hair loss. I really believe hair loss is more a general nutrition problem, not protein specifically.

I use an Atkins protein shake for my breakfast every morning on the way to work. And I eat my protein first, then veggies, and if I have room, carbs. Some hair loss is normal following anesthesia, and I'm going through that right now, but it will stop. A

I wouldn't worry too much about it...the dietician I see doesn't seem worried...when I told her I as concentrating on protein at my first visit, she kind of yelled at me about eating more balanced.

That's a new one to me....

I have never, ever heard that anesthesia causes hair loss, or I guarantee you I would be bald. I had a 9-hr. heart bypass surgery...no loss of hair whatsoever. I've had a C-section, gall bladder surgery, and 2 other surgeries and never lost any hair. I don't think anesthesia has anything to do with it. I believe it's the diet afterwards from lap banding or bypass that causes the hair loss.

There is something out there called beneprotein, by the same makers of benefiber. It has to be ordered through them.. Check the benefiber bottle in the food store to find out who makes it then check their web page.

Anyway the beneprotein is a powder that has 6 grams of protein per teaspoon, you can add it to coffee, mix it yogurt, put in spaghetti sauce etc. A good way to get in more protein.

Dont worry too much though, between your shakes and your food you will get it all in.
