Angry post op water...Bad???

I got my band on monday. after a day in the hospital, and the days following, i have had very little to eat or drink, mostly because of the pain durring and afterwards. Gas-X seems to calm things down, but only some. i have so many pains down there, im note sure what pain if from or for what. Doc says i should be back to normal by friday- i think thats optimistic.

anyhow,

over the past few days i have had pains after just drinking water, i just chalked it up to the same pain i was having b4, but today i took a gient leap and had some cream soup, less than a 1/3 of a cup, it went down great, probably the best meal i have had post op, then i tokk a SIP of water, that just screwed me all up am put the pain into drive.

anyone else had any problems like this?

BTW, i have had popsicles and caned protine shakes with no problem

any ideas?:help:

Interesting.. are you drinking the water very very cold? Are you sipping, as opposed to gulping?

I tended to use a straw (some folks were asked NOT to, due to swallowing air), that way I could continuously sip and NOT gulp.

Most importantly, you need to try to get in the 64oz. Please don't become dehydrated. You may try room temperature water, instead of very cold, etc.

Not sure this will help you discover the problem, but perhaps something to consider. :) Glad you're doing well otherwise. Welcome to bandland!

I remember having issues with cold water also, try room temp and see if it helps. Also, it is very easy to take rather large sips of water without realizing it. Make sure you are taking micro-sips at this stage, just enough to trickle down your throat. Hope you bounce back soon!

I would say room tempurature water, or nice hot tea.

If it keeps up, keep bugging your doctor and make him look at you.

Yes, I had the same problems for a few days. Just keep sipping on chicken broth if you can.:)

What I did was heat up my water in the microwave and that seemed to help.

Strangely, I don't like water now like I did before the surgery. I really like Propel (it has calcium) and vanilla soy milk. I didn't like soy before the surgery, but I LOVE it now. It seems to soothe my tummy.

Hang in there, every day will get better. I'm two weeks post op and I feel GREAT!
