Pasta Substitute

A vegetarian friend of mine Turned me on to quinoa (keenwa). It is a whole grain that has been seaten in South America for centuries. It has a pasta like taste to me and goes down well compared to pasta or rice. I made some in my crock pot with sweet italian sausage and tomato sauce and it is great!

Quinoa, uncooked
amount 0.25 cup
calories158
protein5.57 g
carbohydrates 29.28 g
2.51g dietary fiber

I am going to have to try this! I don't think I have seen this in the store but is this something I can find at a local grocery store?

I got it at Trader Joe's (best market in the world). I am sure you could get it in any large market near the couscous, rice, barley and such. Natural food stores would have it too.

You can also cut long, thin strips of cabbage and steam it until cooked then put pasta sauce on it. It doesn't taste like spaghetti, but gives you the sensation of eating it.
