"A lot" of anything other than water really isn't good for you. OJ has more sugar that most artifical kids drinks.

So I guess it depends on how you mean "ok". Is it nutritionally a good choice? In careful moderation it's probably fine. "A lot" isn't careful moderation. The sugar aside, all citrus has a lot of acids, and "a lot" of acids aren't really good for you either.

Can you buy "no added sugar" varieties in America? Or maybe squeeze your own? OJ is very good for you when you choose a healthy version of it. Watch the calories though.

It's not that oj has added sugar; it's just naturally high in sugar. I checked my "100% pure orange juice" carton, and it has 22 g of sugar in an 8 oz glass. If you had a 4 oz glass every morning that would be fine, assuming you are watching your sugar intake the rest of the day. Using it as your main source of fluids would not be fine. If you drank 3 or 4 8-oz glasses every day, that would add up to 66-88 g sugar and 330 to 440 calories a day, before you ever got any food into yourself.

Learning to Listen to your Body

Perhaps your body is naturally needing something in the orange juice?
A few weeks ago I was craving milk, yogourt, anything dairy. I figured perhaps my body was telling me something, so I listened.

This was a new experience for me (craving something with actual nutrirional value). As long as I'm not craving junk food, I am learning to listen to my body.

Just my humble opinion

I do occasionally drink it, now that I'm under goal weight and maintaining I dont really need to worry about the calories and its a good way to get in the nutrients of the fruit without taking up all my stomach space.

I have about three swallows of it every morning to get my meds down. It may be high in sugar (why I don't drink a lot) BUT for your body to process and absorb your iron and calcium, you NEED vitamin C. I buy the OJ that is fotified with calcium. It also has potassium. I can think of a lot of other drinks that are a whole lot worse than drinking a few ounces of orange juice. If you're craving it, then your body needs the nutrient. go with the flow, just don't over do it. A few sips in the morning is my way of starting the day.
