| Oatmeal & Cottage Cheese During Full Liquid Stage?
I was banded on 10/1, and I'm in the middle of the Full Liquids stage.
I've seen some conflicting info, and I was wondering if the general consensus is that we can or can't have cottage cheese and/or oatmeal during the full liquid stage.
I originally thought that it wasn't allowed, but I saw a few LAP-BAND® websites (e.g. doctors offices) that included those foods. So I had a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese earlier today.
But before continuing, I wanted to make sure it was cool, or wait until Mushies if it isn't. Can anyone end my confusion please?
Thanks!

I would imagine they would be mushies. I don't know why they would be considered full liquids.

Certainly not liquids. Full liquids are whatever you can get through a straw. Those are soft foods.

Thanks, guys. That's what I thought. I was faithfully staying away from both foods until later on, but when I saw the website (I'll post a link if I can find it), I got a little excited.

My dr considers full liquids and mushies to be the same thing. Doesn't make sense to me because I was allowed pudding, baby food fruit and yogurt during my initial 2 week "liquid phase" but not allowed cream soups until phase II (full liquids aka mushies). Each dr is different. Did you get any kind of paperwork showing what is allowed on the different stages of your post op diet?

Agree with Mandi; you'll see lots of great advice here, but what your doc says it what you really should follow.
My doc (who only does LAP-BAND®) recently changed the post-op diet to start with 1 week of full liquids, which included applesauce and pudding, which seemed a little toward the mushie to me...but then again, I ain't the expert.

Pudding and yogurt were part of my "full liquids" but cottage cheese and oatmeal were part of "mushies".

My doctor said the rule of thumb for liquids is anything that can be sipped (not pulled) through a straw at room temperature. So, this would disqualify things like pudding, cottage cheese, and oatmeal. I also saw conflicting messages.
