They aren't bad....The Optifast. I had the chocolate & strawberry shakes, the peanut and chocolate bars and the chicken broth. I did them for 14 days and survived. I dont think I would want to do them for a month though.

I don't mind the Optifast at all, but it was making me break out in eczema as it's milk-based. I just switched to Glucerna today to see if it makes a difference. They taste pretty close to the same.

I went on the medi fast many many many years ago. I drank the chocolate 3 times a day for 3 months & lost 70lbs. It tasted okay. It was harder than Hades to mix up though. But like I said that was a long time ago. Surely they have improved it.

I lost 60 poinds on Optifast the first time I went on it.

Then I gained 100 back.

I lost 80 pounds on Optifast the second time I went on it.

Then I gained 200 back.

Then I went on it again and lost 100 pounds.

Then I gained 100 back.

Does it work? Sure. Does it work forever? No. Well, it does if you're one of the 5% of the population who keeps their weight off after dieting.

Sorry to be grim. Optifast (and Medifast, and all liquid diets) have an *extremely* low success rate.

Now, if this is something you're doing in preperation for the band, that's a different story. If this is something you're doing instead of banding, I'd really give it some thought.

Jonathan

Didn't mind the optifast, did mind the $. If I had it to do over, I'd do the new slimfast. Don't know if that would have been o.k. nutrition wise for 1 month, I only had to do it for a week.
