Talking Mayo

What's the verdict on salad dressing/mayonnaise?

I know that Atkins followers prefer the real deal vs. Miracle Whip due to sugar content. Should I follow that same line of thinking? I really prefer Light Miracle Whip.

Maybe I shouldn't be eating it at all?

Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm with you....light Miracle Whip. I eat it very, very sparingly, so I doubt it makes much difference.

By the way....we have the same surgeon. Isn't he McSweetie?

Well, mayo is loaded with fat and calories and should be used only in moderation. That said I personally love it. I think that anything that you can tolerate is good in moderation. The things I used to eat mayo on are mostly sandwhiches and as I can't eat bread anymore I don't eat as much mayo (just with tuna and scrambled eggs).

If you look at the calorie content of mayo you might choke, the same with miracle whip. As for light vs regular, I choose regular in small amounts rather than light with all it's added chemicals to improve the taste. I eat so little of it who care about light, it's about taste and as few chemicals as possible.

I'm all for the "real deal" condiments as we use so little. I do not like the chemicals in the fat free / low fat products.

Good luck to you.

I use the real stuff, but try to use as little as possible, at least most of the time!

I always go for the real deal. I find that the low cal, low fat, and imitation food products don't have much taste you end up eating more just to get some flavour. I'd rather have a bit of the real stuff and be able to taste something.

I like the taste of lite Mayo better than the full fat version.
