| I usually choose anyone of the Lean Cuisine meals that don't include any kind of pastas, breads, potatoes or anything that we shouldn't have as a banded person. To tell you the truth I had better luck finding those in the "Weight Smart" meals.Although they were very limited in choices.I think they actually only have 2,one with Pot Roast and veggies and the other was Chicken and veggies................there might be one more, some kind of Sweet and Sour Chicken with Veggies. I ate those ALOT while I was trying to lose the weight and had a huge green salad on the side every time to help me feel full. Quote:

City: Valrico (Tampa area) State: Florida | Not enough protein = hair loss. Too much, not sure other than maybe high calories/fat in your diet and not enough variety in your foods. Everyone has highly recommended Isopure, which you can get at GNC, which tastes fine and can be mixed with water. Each "shake" contains 53g of protein - 2 scoops of mix to 12 oz. water - but the 3 lb. container is about $60. It's worth it if you are having trouble fitting in enough protein each day. I was told to aim for 60-70 grams of protein daily by my dietician.
Also, I've been told by my surgeons that potatoes are okay (any form - although, try to avoid fries for the obvious reasons).
First fill 9/10 - 3 cc's
Second fill 10/8 - 1 cc
Third fill tomorrow ...... hope this will set me up correctly since my VG band holds 10 cc's ......weight loss hasn't changed much in the last 2 months! :cry But I'm still thinking positive and hanging in there!

so it's okay to eat proteins instead of drink them? i mean, as long as you get the 60 grams / day (or whatever your dr tells you) then...it's possible that we wouldn't have to drink that nasty stuff???
since you don't use the shakes or anything, what types of foods do you eat that get your protein?

Originally Posted by txsmile100 since you don't use the shakes or anything, what types of foods do you eat that get your protein? | - I spend the extra and buy Borden 2% High Protein Milk -- 10 grams of protein for an 8 ounce cup. Then try to get in my "24 in 24" like the Dairy Industry ads say -- 3 cups (8 oz.) per day.
- I keep meaty snacks around me all the time.....lump crab meat, lean/low sodium deli meats, low-fat string cheese, etc. All of which are about 5 grams of protein per ounce.
- Always make my meat choice 1/2 to 3/4 of my meal, with veggies making up the difference and carbs as a last resort....or a special treat.
Hope that helps a bit.

Hope that helps a bit. | Oh wonderful...that DEFINTELY helps!! I think along the way I forgot that foods do have good amounts of protein and that is also how we could get in our protein amounts... So with the milk, there's 30 grams right there if it's 3 times per day... I like your outline there, and that's a great tip to keep the meats at 1/2 to 3/4 of meal. Great info, thanks so much!

State: Virginia | My new favorites One of my new favorite proteins is Lump Crabmeat. Lots of protein, no carbs, only 1 gram good fat, low calorie (go to CalorieKing - Diet and weight loss. Calorie Counter and more. and get the breakdowns of almost every food).
I love salmon too, but even that is a little hard to digest. I get an Eggplant Tapenade (or olive tapenade) to go with at the health food store - it is not too high in calories and delicious. I use it instead of a "dip" for anything!
Also the Iopure clear drinks are huge, 40 grams of protein, no carbs, 160 calories (I drink 1/2 bottle at a time) and taste like fruit punches.
Then my old standby is Tofu. I like the firm lite, I cube it and toss it into cottage cheese with a little Teriyaki. yum. (Or yuck, depending on who you are).
Also a fave - Spinach Paneer. I get it at the healthfood store in a package that requires no fridgeration. only 133 calories and delicious as a veggie accompaniment after protein. It is ugly, but soft and spicy and delish.
Unflavored Unjury protein powder rocks too - has 20 grams of Whey isolate and 1 gram carb and only 80 calories. The best thing is the taste is minimal, so it is great in soups, yogurt, cream of wheat, oatmeal, etc. |
