these dense, course foods are difficult to digest. Your stomach has to pulse and churn to process it. You want your stomach to be nice and still while you are healing. The less movement the better the healing process. Listen to your doctor. It's important. Rest assured, you'll be able to eat it at some point. Just not right now. I'm six months out and am doing well enough to eat a little snack pack of baby carrots with my lunch. It's only 30 calories and I love them. But it took a while to get to that point.
