Lettuce is challenging for many people. I'd wait until you are a more experienced bandster before trying that. If you just HAVE to have lettuce, use Iceburg and only eat the thick, crunchy white parts. Stay away from red leaf or butter lettuce type products.

I love my salads...I buy the shredded packaged lettuce (usually used for tacos and sandwichs) and I find this is easier to handle since pieces are very thin. I cut my cucumber and tomatoes into very tiny pieces also. This was much easier than chewing the lettuce until my jaw was sore!

I love salads. They fill me up and I always throw in a little lean protein. How long you been banded? Are you on solid stage yet?

I agree that iceberg is the easiest one to get down. Romaine was a killer for me. I also cut the skin off the cucumbers, and will spit out tough tomatoe skins. Good luck/

City: Long Island State: NY | Is it even worth all the work for ICEBERG? Iceberg lettuce really has no nutritional value. Mmmm salad! This is one of the foods I've been wondering if I will still be able to eat. Pineapple and Asparagus too.

OH thank God! I have been searching all over to find out if lettuce is tolerated well... I am so glad there were posts on the topic. All I could find was info from people that had RNY. I am going to try my first salad soon....

Hey you stole my name!! :)
I don't have any trouble with salad. I usually make mine with spinach leaves though. I can't eat very much of it, since my fill. I gave up iceberg
lettuce years ago, but I have never had any trouble with any type of salad
greens. I use Walmart's fat free Italian dressing and it's only 10 calories
for 2 Tablespoons. It's pretty good.
