Hot peppers make me hiccup?

This memorial day weekend we had some stuffed jalapenos on the grill. The first one I got was delicious, but not very hot. I got a second, and this one had some heat. Instantly, after I ate the hot pepper I got hiccups. Last night, I had some sliced jalapenos on my sandwich, and low and behold, hiccups again. I cannot figure this one out. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? How can hot peppers give me the hiccups?

I hiccup when I'm full/satisfied. I havent heard of hiccupping from peppers....but I'm sure it makes sense. Peppers can be kind of a shock to your system....maybe your belly is saying STOP!!

I hiccup when I eat jalapenos, too! I eat them anyway because I really crave spicy food.

I usually hull out a whole jalepeno then stuff them with shredded chicken and cheese, wrap with bacon, and grill or bake until the bacon is crisp. These I had the other day, my uncle made (which is probably why they were so hot) he just made a slit in the peppers lenghtwise, and took out some (not all) of the seeds, then stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped with bacon then grilled. Very good!

crabmeat in a jalapeno is good too!!! I'm a bit of a wuss, so I can't do the really hot ones. I tend to do better with a serrano pepper. But I LOVE Chili rellanos. (stuffed pablano pepper or a large chili) I like them stuffed with chicken and dipped in a frothy egg batter. YUM.
