Help with Post-Op Diet

Hi everyone. I'm getting ready to transition from full liquids to mushy's and have been playing around with a menu plan. How in the world do you get in all the liquids when you can't drink for a half hour before you eat and at least a half hour after?

You constantly sip water all day long

that is exactly what you do, you sip, sip, and sip water all day long. I am 3 days post op and have drank more water than the protein shakes because I talked to the nurse today and she said the water was more important. I have struggled to get all 3 shakes in, but every day is better. Just remember to continue sipping as hydration us of the utmost importance..........good luck!

Agreed! I always had something to drink close by. But I have to admit I didn't touch water until after I reached my goal.

This isn't everyone mind you, but I was well restricted and I had to make choices in what I put inside my body. I wasn't able to eat alot of healthy foods and began to suffer from malnutrition. ... started with low potassium levels...so I sipped juices ALL day. Water has absolutely no nutritional value....good for you for hydration, though. So I chose another liquid that had nutrients...but calories.

If you can eat poultry and eat fruits...you won't have the problem I did.

Now, after getting a .3cc unfill to ease the restriction....
I drank 3 bottles of Dasani the next day and now drink water constantly!
