Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

Hello!
I am scheduled to be banded on November 22nd and they told me at first that I will not be able to tolerate high fiber foods.
I do love my fresh fruit and salads, will I ever be able to eat these things again? If so how far down the road?
Thanks, Schel

Foods

Schel,

As you progress through bandland, you will find that the band is inconsistent. One person can eat salads, the next can't. One can tolerate fruit, another can't. Some days you can tolerate foods that cause problems other days.

No one can give you a direct answser on how your body will react and what you will tolerate. Someone else posted a list of foods and asked people what they could and could not eat. You may want to look at that.

One comment that I can make is that I always ate healthy and continue to do so but with different foods. Instead of salads I am eating more roasted vegetables. Since you need to eat protein first, its easy to roast green beans, squash, etc in the oven when I cook fish or something.

Good luck on your journey. Celeste

Well during my mushy week, I ate alot of mashed cauliflower, butternut squash and tomato soup. I tollerated really well.

I just hit the 'normal food' stage today and already I've had some salad, carrots w/low fat dip, zucchini and it all went down really well (chew chew chew)... I am almost 4 weeks post-op.

Tonight I ate for dinner 1/4 of a ckn breast in a sauce, cooked carrots, and a few bites of a baked potato, and a few bites of my salad. All is good (so far lol). I'm gonna hit some fruit tomorrow :)

i love salad but can no longer eat salads. I have tried 3 times and couldn't. However, i can eat bread and I can eat a slice of pizza with no problems unlike alot of other bandsters.

Schel,

I was banded late July and found that in the last month or so I could eat salads and fruit quite well, but everyone is different. I can eat an apple with no problem. The only food I find is a problem is fish, I think because it's dry it gets stuck more easily.

I used to LOVE a good salad. Now.. sniff sniff... I had to say goodbye for now. They just don't digest well for me unfortunately. I miss them though and plan to keep trying them every so often.

Fresh fruit is fine for me though. Love those nanners!

I have strawberries, blueberries and mangos in my cottage cheese. I also switch to tomatoes and cucumbers in CC as well. I go for my second fill next Tuesday, have to see how it goes from there.
