I know a lot depends on how tight your band is...but are there any foods you know you can never eat again? I've heard things like asparagus, seaweed etc... are very had to pass through the band.
Thanks,

Kristen,
I feel I have perfect restriction, currently NO food that I cannot eat. I just recently got an small unfill. When I was too tight I could no longer eat any solids and meat was out of the question.
I NEVER maintain a fill too tight to have foods I can no longer tolerate. Plus it is counter productive with no weight loss and you highly increase chances of band slips maintaining too tight fills. I just make sure I eat band friendly foods, like lean baked chicken and tuna most of the time and stay away from thick breads like burgers and fries. I have NEVER PB aka vomiting, since being banded.
I can eat all foods, just in small amounts and I get full quick.
Good Luck!

I do LOVE sushi, and the sushi rolls usually involve dried seaweed. I haven't been banded yet (soon, soon), so it is a food to ask about.

Not for me, I have 2.5 in a 4ml band and can still eat anything.
I've determined that I am darn lucky and that I will try to lose the rest of my weight without more fills in order to preserve this freedom.
I cant eat a LOT of anything though.

City: Seattle Area State: Washington | So far I havent had any troubles with any foods. I havent PB'd either. When I did feel I overate I felt crappy, uncomfortable, and too full but nothing major. I really like eating a boiled egg mashed up with a lil light mayo, mustard. Also I like some lunch meat with a lil cheddar cheese melted on top. Both of those things would each be a meal for me. Havent tried pizza yet. Dont really think I should since thats one of the things the old me would have pigged out on.

City: Seattle Area State: Washington | I forgot, I will never have MILK or carbination again. My Dr says drinking milk is off limits and the carbination streches the pouch. For me it sucks cause I did love my Coors light :( Never more than 6 grams of sugar in a serving either. ITS WORTH IT TO ME :)

Most food seems OK, but two bites of soft bread gave me a golf ball. So far, everything else seems OK.

Stephanie - no milk? Did he say why? It is such a good source of calcium and protein. It's liquid. Should go right on through. My doctor wants us to drink lots of it.

Thanks for all of your posts. I'll ask about seaweed at my consultation this Friday. I'm a vegetarian, so I don't need to worry about not eating meat. I'm glad to hear some people are lucky and can eat anything, just in small amounts. That is what I want out of the band - portion control.
If seaweed is off limits, I can always ask the chef to leave out the seaweed. My favorite is kamikaze sushi - seaweed, rice with avocado, friend tempura bits & spicy red sauce - yum!!!

I can't eat super fibrous veggies with hard stems like kale of the stems of brocolli, and I definitely 100% can't eat fast food. I've PB'd every single time I've tried it. I've had problems from time to time with scrambled eggs, but not always. |
