Am I eating enough? Am I too tight?

I just had my third fill (7ccs in a 10cc band). I can barely get in 1/4 cup of food (protein first, of course) but I do stay full for hours...Unfortunately, I often don't know when my last bite should be and go one or two bites past where I'm comfortable. I realize it too late and slime quite a bit.

This is a huge difference from my last fill. I could eat MUCH more before. I now love the fact that I can barely eat. It has finally forced me to STOP eating! I've lost six pounds this week.

Am I eating too little? I'd venture to guess I'm barely getting in 800 calories, but if I can get in more food at one time I'm likely to lose control again. Do I get a slight unfill? Please help.

Just a guess based on what is often reported by other Bandsters:

If you are able to get down liquids & some solid food without discomfort, you may well seem to loosen a bit in the next few weeks. This of course is mere speculation.

Personally I believe it is difficult to find that exact sweet spot just by fill alone. My impression is far more Bandsters think they are either 'too tight' or 'too loose' than think they are just like Goldilocks and "too-just aright".

Please keep us informed about your progress. If you surgeon thinks your fill needs adjusting discuss the issue with him for best advise.

Okay I am glad I ran accross your post. I have a 4cc band, I had my 3rd fill 3 weeks ago and am now at 3cc in my band. Prior to getting this fill, it was like I had no band at all. All the weight I lost was right after surgery on the total liquid, mushy stage. I only lost less then 5 pounds with my fills-(I had band placed on Christmas eve 07)

This time I can eat some things fine one day and the next day I can't. Most mornings I can hardly eat anything--but can get cereal to stay down. Sometimes I can not drink water with out it hurting.

I have read other post where people said they felt like this and had some taken out only to regret getting the unfill. So I keep thinking this will get better. I have frequent "slime" episodes and if I try to drink water to see if it will push it through--Up it all comes.

I am more active now then I have been in years, no I do not go and exercise--I now have a job where I am physically working, mopping floors, cleaning, bending, lifting ect... I work constantly and hardly have time to sleep let alone go to a gym. I figured it is not the same as an exercise routine, but it was definately better then being a couch potatoe and should be helping me along.....

Problem is the scales have not moved other then 2 pounds right after my last fill. I have only lost 2 pounds since January. I can hardly eat anything most days surely I should be losing weight! I do not eat the junk food, I do not drink pop. I am not good about getting protien in as I can't swallow it easily or have gotten aprehensive as I am working so much and it would be horrible to start sliming while at work.

I also am for the first time maybe starting to feel full---I do not feel full, I just no I can not eat any more. I want to eat more but do not dare.

My question is how do you know when your approaching your last bite? How much should you be eating? Lately I eat 2-3 bites and the sliming starts and yes, I chew, and chew--It is completely chewed when it goes down but it comes back up.

Please share your experiences as many of us are in similar situations.

My fill has loosened a tad and I'm able to eat slightly more. I can also get down protein without sliming if I chew, chew, chew. Liquids have never been a problem for me and certainly don't hurt.

I've started to eat very slowly and as soon as I feel that 'golf-ball' feeling I stop. That's my full point. I've realized this after a week of taking one or two bites too much.

My guess is you are not losing because your body is starving. You're not getting enough nutrition and your body is hanging on to every available calorie it has. I don't think the exercise/activity is an issue right now. I believe if you were able to eat more you'd probably start losing weight again.

Call your doctor/nutritionist and speak with them. I don't think this is how they intended for you to live with the band. You should be able to eat more. (Don't forget if you're not getting in your protein you could start losing some hair!)

Please let me know how things go. Good luck.

Wow,

I could have written anyone of those posts. At first even after my first two fills I had little restrictions and could eat virutally anything. Then I got to 5 cc's and had major restrictions. Slimming has occured more times then I would like. So back to the doctor I went I had 1/2 cc removed; felt great, ate better; however, lost nothing that month.

This month I had the 1/2 cc put back in. I am at 6cc's now. I still have a lot of restirctions and like you I can eat one thing one day and not the next. I used to eat breakfast all the time but I am now resolved to not eating it anymore. It just won't go down. someone suggested swelling like when you can't get your rings on. I don't know if its relavant.

Anyway I wat a lot of noodles and try to remember to chew really well. I forget sometimes or eat too fast; then I get stuck.

So what to do????? take some fluid out of my band and not lose or live with the restrictions and slime on occasion. Usually once a day.
