Im New!!!

:) Hello im new on here, so thought I would say hi and give you a bit of info on me, might be a bit boring but hey hubby on stag do and im bored:D

My Names Helen I live in Kent and am 25, 26on the 24th June. i have decided to have the band op done and have it booked for the 28th June :phanvan

My husband and I have been under infertility for 4 years with no luck and have been told I would need IVF but would not be able to have it on NHS as husband has daughter from prev relationship, so I took this on Chin and thought ok I will go private, I needed to be 13 stone max:rolleyes to do this, and seeing as I am 21stone ,11lbs I have a long way to go, b4 I can even think about IVF, so I knew I had to do somthing which is why I have decided on the Lap band.

So this is my plan of action, I have the Lap Band 28th June hopefully in the next 2years I will have lost enough weight with lots of hard work to 1. either start ovuating my self
2. can start IVF.
If all this fails and by the time I get to 35 I will adopt.:biggrin1: So that is my plan!! It sound really mad.

I am really scared, it has taken so much time for me to get the support of my family for this op. My old sister is a Sister at the hospital across the road from my hospital, and she does not know yet! I have not told her as she is really against WLS. Ok for her she is a size 8!!:heh:

Anyway im boring my self, hopefully speak to you all some time. x Helen

Hi Helen!
Welcome to Lapbandtalk!
congratulations on taking the bull by the horns and deciding to do something permanent about your weight.
I have to say that on here you will find a real mixture of guys and gals.... some have told everyone, some have told nobody, and quite a few like me who have told people on a need to know basis only!
I'm 12 weeks post op this week and have lost 3 stones so far... I started off around the same weight as you too.
You may find that your fertility improves once you've lost weight too. (although, I don't know what your particular problem is, so I couldn't comment on your specific case!)
Good luck on your banding journey....
As for the op, I have to say I woke up feeling just as welll as I went down! I looked at my plasters (yes, I did say plasters... small plasters at that!) on my belly and had to poke them to make sure that they'd actually cut me!!)
I had a bit of windy pain the following day, but that was it! The op is very straight forward, you'll wonder what you were panicking about afterwards.... promise!
Keep us up to date! feel free to write here!

Hi and welcome! Sounds to me like you have it all planned! Good on you!
As Anon said, nothing to fear from op. Pretty straight forward and rather painless. Worse is the wind pain in the few days after. Mine affected my shoulder and made it uncomfortable to lie down. But it passes after a few days and then you are good to go. If you are really disciplined (which I found I had no choice but to be!) you will lose quite a bit in the first few weeks...look at Anon's results! Incredible!!
Good luck with the op and with the rest of your life. Let us know how you get on!

Hi
I had my band fitted in Feb 07 and I have been banded to ensure I am the right road to having another baby.
I have one child who is an amzing 6 years old and unfortunately have had 7 miscarriages following.
I have taken the bull between the horns and have embarked on this journey to lose weight so no one can turn round and say its my fault because I am overweight.
I am two stone lighter alreasy and feel alot better in myself.
Lets hope the 7 stone I have left to lose takes me on to the next journey I would like to travel!
Good luck with your surgery and your journey x
