Daily required protein?

Do you watch how much protein is in your food so you have the right daily allowance? On a couple of other threads people have said they do and I'm worried as I don't think I am having enough??!! Does anyone know how much I should be having a day? :)

Personally I dont, I dont ever think about it. I wouldnt get the 70 to 80 grams some people shoot for. But its not protein focussed in Australia - we dont get given that advice at all.

I'm fine, have all my hair, have lost all my weight, have plenty of muscle.

Hi Cookies!

I get between 70 and 100g per day, although the recommended amount for the UK is 40g of protein for women and 50 for men as a minimum.
I keep mine higher because I'm trying to build some muscle mass in the gym. My training programme recommends 1g of protein per kg of body weight.... I don't get enough according to those calculations, because I'm stil a biffer!!!

Hi, Don't worry about your weight now. Any protein calculations are done on ideal body weights. Makes it a little easier to keep to doesn't it! If I were eating enough protein for my NOW body weight and going to the gym I'd end up looking like MR Universe! Or Popeye heheheh....
