I have to be honest, it is easier than having a baby. I walked soon after surgery and that REALLY helped. I did not experience any shoulder pain because I was up and walking. When I was not up and walking, I was sleeping. The surgeons that do this are AWESOME. Listen to your doctor and it will go very smoothly.
Funny - you never forget having a baby and compare it to everything else. Back in the 70's when everyone else was on drugs, moms were into "natural" childbirth with no drugs. I always compare everything difficult to that and it makes it easier to bear ('scuse the pun.)

I'm banded! :whoo:

It was pretty easy and the staff was so unbelievably kind and thoughtful that I didn't have time to get too nervous. I'm glad I'm done though. I can handle the minimal discomfort I'm having now.

Good luck to everyone due to get banded.

Kate Band 12/07

Just had my band on Tuesday. I was, what I told the anesthesiologist, appropriately nervous but also excited. I am a nurse and actually work the surgical area where I was prepared for my surgery and the area where I was cared for after. I really believe that attitude after surgery is about 80% if the battle. The pain I felt just after surgery was small to moderate, maybe a 3 to four on a scale of one to ten. I described it as like being kicked in the stomach by a very small mule. Wednesday the mule had gotten a bit bigger, but Thursday the mule had shrunk again. I was given liquid Lortab for the pain but it gave me a headache so I switched to liquid Motrin and liquid Tylenol. I would alternate them. Yesterday and today no problem. My daughter is also going to have the surgery early this next year. She had to wait until she could switch insurances to have coverage. My heart goes out to all of you who are having to pay for this yourselves. Some insurances are sooo short-sighted. Good luck to all of you.

I was very excited about it when I had surgery and afterwards. I think that is one of the reason I did nto have much pain at all. Iam still happy that I have done this.

I was excited. Am still excited, but tired too! It has been different, and a different realization knowing that my eating habits will change from now on! Have had to fight the urge to eat candy!!!

I don't envy you Holiday Bandsters! At least I had a chance to acclimate myself to my new regimen without the interference of holiday dinners and parties.

Just be careful--we all KNOW that chocolate goes down easily, but that is part of what got me into trouble in the first place :p !!

Isn't it wonderful to have this tool that will assist us in getting where we've wanted to be forever!!!!:D
