What is the 'rule' on beer?

I was banded 8/14; I have stayed completely away from alochol to this point but would like to be able to have a beer or two (Michelob Ultra) with my brothers at Christmas time. Is this illegal? Does anyone know the 'rule'? I am down 30 pounds; have a 10 cc band with 3 cc fill. Feeling wonderful!

I drink the occasional beer. I can't get down more than two bottles due to feeling full. That's about 1/3 of what I could get down in an evening (not every evening) of drinking beer before the band.

I don't or should say can't drink beer because of the carbonation. If I'm really craving one real bad, I have to pour from glass to glass to get rid of some of the carbonation.. Kinda like when your cooling off something. Wine is no problem or vodka with any sort of juice works great also.

I could drink beer (or any carbonation) until my last fill. Now it is super painful and the bubbles come back up like a mini-PB.

Since everyone is different you might be ok with it.

An occasional beer will not hurt. It is all a matter on whether the carbonation will hurt you. You just need to monitor it to see if you get heart burn or acid reflux.

No carbonation! It's a rule. My dr. permits alcohol, just not carbonated drinks.

I went out with my little brother over thanksgiving and he ordered me a "red headed slut". I have red hair, so thought it was a bit odd. Anyway it was yummy and I no longer have any sort of tolerance to alcohol. It also took about 40 minutes to drink.

Stay away from carbonation, it can stretch your pouch.

I miss beer too!! I can do ok drinking carbonated drinks so I will have one occassionally. I do notice that it really throws a wrench in my weightloss though! I can down a chickfila cookies and cream milk shake and loose, but any alcohol stalls the process. I love red wine also (hate white wine), but red wine gives me acid reflux the minute I swallow a sip.

My doctor said no carbonation, too. I'm not into alcohol to begin with, but I've especially been avoiding it so I don't take in a bunch of empty calories. If you exercise more to burn off the calories, then I guess you can indulge sometimes.

As always, go with your doctor's advice to be safe...
