I have read about many people gaining a few lbs right after surgery. I was banded on the 8th and weighed 383 at the hospital, I weighed myself yesterday morning and weighed 386. Yes I know too i shouldnt be thinking about it right now but I have been curious also. But was really surprised me is that I just weighed myself again ... twice... and both times the scale read 374.... I think its broken.

I was 220 the morning of surgery and 222 when I came home and for the next couple of days. I had noticable swelling around the port site so I'm sure that was the extra 2 lbs. I think it is probably normal. Today one week post op I'm 215.5 so it does go back down I guess.

I was told that the next 3 to 4 weeks are for healing from the surgery. It is not aout losing weight at this point. I was banded on Tuesday Aug. 7. I have not weighed myself yet. Yeah, I am curious also, but I expect to be fluctuating for the next week or so, therefore I did not bother.
Remember, this is for a lifetime of changing habits, and the weight will come off slowly.

I'm in the same boat and was feeling a bit sorry for myself! I was banded July 28 and have only been on clear and full fluids so far. Going into this I thought I would see the big drop that I have read many had on the post op diet. My Dr. told me that for my post op diet I could have as much of the allowed foods as I wanted. I realized this week that like it or not, fluid calories count, and those protein drinks have tons of them. I have been watching it more closely this week (e.g. choosing soups with less calories, keeping to a regular schedule for eating and "snacking" less, more yogurt, less pudding, and cutting back on the protein drinks), and I am down 2 pounds. I think everyone is right though. Right now we need to focus on feeling better because that is the most important thing, so you should just do what is right for you, and if the weight loss doesn't come until after the first fill, what's a few more weeks.
