Raw Veggies After Banding?

Hello! I am in the process of getting insurance approval, etc. I have a friend who had this done about a year ago. She still finds it difficult to eat salad and some raw veggies. I was wondering if this was an individual problem or is it something that most experience? I was wondering about raw fruit also? Please share. Thanks.

I've seen where a lot of people on here eat salad, but I have to admit, for me, I still don't/can't eat it. I can, however, eat raw carrots, cukes, and tomatoes. I just don't like the way the lettuce turns yucky when chewed a lot. Which is a little sad because I used to LOVE salads, but I don't miss them as much now.

The only vegetable that I've had an issue with is Asparagus. I eat salads all the time, fruit too - I was told I might have an issue w/the skins on fruit - but I've not experienced that. You'll just have to play around and try it all to determine what you will / will not be able to handle. Good luck w/Insurance Approval!!

I haven't had a problem with anything except for oranges. I can't eat the skin on them. But salads, raw veggies, anything like that goes down fine. I think everyone is different though. When I try something new or something that I haven't had since the band I go slow.

You'll find different strokes for different folks applies here. I can't eat spaghetti at ALL but can tolerate salads just fine.

I've heard that romaine lettuce goes down easier than other kinds. Maybe because it's crunchier??? It's just a suggestion, but I don't have a problem with salads , "yet". I go in for my second fill on Wednesday, and some say more things get more difficult the more restriction you have. We'll see.....

I eat salad almost every day and it is actually one of the foods I never have trouble with. I eat a lot of romaine and raw spinach. I don't have trouble with any fruits or vegetables except citrus, for the same reason as stated above. (the membrane gets stuck) I also eat a lot of cut up cucumbers and peppers and have no problems.

I know what you mean. I was a wreck until I found out. I was so afraid to hope. I had a hard time thinking about what my life might be with the band because I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to do it. Good luck and keep us posted!

I can eat soft fruit and salad. Raw veggies are ok, especially when there is some dressing to dip it in. It helps it go down, I just have to chew really really well.
