Pre-op Liquid diet - GOOD RESULTS!!!!

Tomorrow I get banded. Finally! The liquid Pre-Op diet has been surprisingly enjoyable. Anyone worried or nervous or frustrated Stick to it! Keep motivated by reading this web site and thinking positive. Since startign the pre-op liquid diet I have lost 11 lbs. (about a pound a day) After the first 3 days the diet was pretty easy and hungar lost. Along with the 11 lbs. lost I have saved a lot of $ I am not buying breakfast on my way to work or going out for lunch. No trips to the store to pick up a few things for dinner (and buy more too).
I think mentally it is good preparation too. food already feels like a thing of the past. I did go though a stage around day 3 -4 where I was sad and missing eating - not hungry but missing the good tastes of food. I think its important to get that behind you before surgery so you can only focus on the important food you must eat after surgery (Protien, veggies, etc).
And trust me after 12 days of this liquid diet, when I am able to eat again I will have no problems picking healthy food and ignoring the junk. I now appreciate food as energy and fuel for my body. It is also apparent that the food I use to eat (carbs, sugar) was really slowing me down mentally and physically - I really feel very good and healthy now.
It can be a positive experience for anyone!

Congrats to U! I will be banded tomorrow also! The liquid diet does get easier and the hunger went away towards the last 4 days, I didn't understand why though. Lots of mixed feelings going on right now. Best of luck to U.

I am having a lot of mixed feelings too. Tomorrow is my surgery date. I am excited, but nervous. I think it is normal though. I keep reminding myself <why> I made this decision to begin with. I will keep you all in my prayers tonight.

See you on the other side with a band! :)

I also am being banded tomorrow and feel the liquid diet was great! I have to still cook for my family and felt the hardest part was getting it to taste right without tasting it! I have lost 22 lbs on the liquid diet and am not really feeling hungry!

Hi TillyD!
Good luck and best wishes on your surgery. I totally agree with you on the pre-op diet thing. I am enjoying it (I am doing medifast) and the food is good (based on everyones comments I thought it would taste like dirt.)
Take care and report back!

I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I have to do this for 10 days. I can have low fat yogurt and low fat cottage cheese, not more than 3 per day. Protein shake, not more than 3 per day. All the crystal light, diet soda, tea/coffee with no sugar, bullion, s/f jello-popsicles-fudgicles that I want. Saturday was easy, yesterday was okay, this morning started off okay but on my way home from work I was starving! Once I had a cup of bullion and cottage cheese I was fine. Surgery will be here before I know it! I have lost one pound since Sat.

I am in day 2 of my pre-op diet. It has been encouraging to read what you have to say. At this point however, I feel lightheaded, head-achy, hungry and irritable. Hope this passes. Surgery scheduled for July 21st feels like an eternity away. Yikes.
