Hi everyone! Last day of my preop diet! Tomorrow is surgery day! I've lost about 15 lbs, and my doc said that was good. He said that people who are able to lose weight prior to surgery do better afterwards. I am excited, because my husband and I work in the operating room and I know my nurse and scrub tech and anesthesia team personally. I know they will take good care of me! I think the preop diet really does get easier after a few days, especially if you can stay busy & drink lots of water. I have been making crystal light slushes in the blender...

Thank you so much for your support! I think this website is more supportive than the group they set me up with!

I am on Day 2 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed 2 protein shakes and 2 small meals per day. (by small i mean 6 oz lean meat and 1 serving of a green vegetable). I am having a really hard time with the protein drinks. I bought the FreshStart at the office- terrible, made me gag. I then tried a can of slimfast optima and could only get half down. I bought some Kashi protein shake mix last night, but this isn't working either. I haven't cheated, but I'm not getting all the protein in. Any suggestions? Do you think this will hurt my surgery? I'm willing to go hungry all week, but I haven't been able to choke down the shakes.
