Over the counter nausea control?

Does anyone know of any good over the counter nausea medicines? My doctor prescribed one for me and the price tag is $700+ before insurance and about $100 after. I just don't have it in my budget right now to fill that prescription. Is there anything over the counter that might help me? I need to shake the nausea to feel normal and start getting my calories and proteins in.

Thanks for any advice!

Heather:

I have had big issues with nausea too. I found that when I stop taking pain medication the nausea goes away. I swithced to liquid tylenol day 1 after surgery and the nausea went away.

Hope you feel better soon because nausea sucks to have to deal with.

Sue

There's a product called Emetrol that works wonders for nausea. I prefer the lemon over the cherry flavor. There are usually store brand versions of it as well. Emetrol can usually be found in 2 sizes both under $10 I believe.

You could also contact your doctor for an alternative prescription. Zofran is very expensive, but the Phenergan generic costs less and for me actually worked better. Good luck.

Ohhhh - I feel for you . . .

DRAMAMINE worked wonders for me, both during my second pregnancy (my doctor recommended it) when I couldn't take the 'big' stuff because of my little one at home that needed to be supervised and also after my band surgery.

You can find it almost anywhere - Wal-Mart, Target, Wal-Greens, CVS, etc. I buy the generic brand at Wal-Mart and it works just fine.

I hope you feel better soon . . .

Almost at the same time as I read your message, my step-father stopped by with some Emetrol for me. Unfortunately he got the cherry (ICK!) but it appears to have worked with just one dose. I'm feeling much better now and was able to drink a cup of chicken ramen noodle broth for dinner.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I will keep all of them in mind because I do not want to throw up with this band inside of me!
