I have been reading mostly on here and my apt. with the surgeon is coming up on 4/16. This will be my first apt. with anyone. Is this normal? I live in North Carolina, any others out there, with BCBS?
I live in NC and also have BCBS/NC. I was told that I have to have a referral from MD, psych eval, recent physical, thyroid test and a class before I can meet w/dr. They will then sch. me with the surgeon and do a pre-est to my ins. I am not sure if this is BCBS requirement or the surgeon's requirement. Best of luck to you!!!
I live in Michigan and have BCBS PPO. In my area, all centers that perform this type of surgery have you attend a 4-5 hour apt. that includes a group meeting with the dietician, lab work, and a talk to the group by the surgeon. Following this, the surgeon meets with you individually.
