New on Thyroid Meds - Worried I won't get approved by Health Insurance Co.

Hi,

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) 2-1/2 months ago and have been on meds to correct it since then. I was wondering if anyone else had been on Thyroid meds when they enquired about LAP-BAND® surgery and if they were approved by their insurance company. I am worried that I won't be approved because they may want to wait and see if the thyroid meds is gonna help with my weight loss first. The only thing that makes me optimistic is that this is a new condition (I've had bloodwork done several times in the last few years and thyroid was fine) and I've been overweight for forever.

Any input welcome.

I didn't know I had hypothyroidism until I had the presurgery bloodwork done requested by the bariatric surgeon and unfortunately I never lost weight on synthroid either. Have also had two separate WL surgeries since then. Good luck to you Nancy.
