hospital or outpatient?

Hello everyone!

I am wondering. Did you all have to stay in the hospital overnight or did you go home the same day as the surgery?

Thanks so much!

There has been a recent thread about this somewhere. If you do a search you should find it.
Anyway, I was outpatient, and a lot of others were too. Some did stay overnight, though.

I stayed overnight and was grateful for that. They have the really good pain meds in the hospital.

I went in the afternoon of my surgery, stayed overnight, and was home by noon the next day... less than 24 hours in total.

I had my surgery at 7:30 a.m. and was released about 1:00 p.m. the same day. Hospital beds & recliners are never very comfortable - I enjoyed being home and being comfortable!!

I was in the hospital 1 night but now he has moved his surgery to outpatient only. Either way you will be okay. Good luck.

Wow!!!! I stayed in the hospital overnight. I did not want to go home. I was in sooooooooooooooo much pain. I could not go tho the bathroom either. They had to put a cathader (sp?) in overnight. My doc said some people feel little to no pain and other it feels like they went in with a sleg hammer. I am 13 days poet op and doing 100% better. I am not taking any more pain meds. This pain was worst theen my c-section.

Good Luck.

My surgeon required me to stay overnight. I was greatful, the pain meds in the IV were heaven for the pain, they also put me out so I didn't have to listen to the old lady next to me snore!
I was also required to do a barium swallow under x-ray before I was discharged.
