Well tomorrow am is the big day!! I can't believe its here. I have to be there by 5:30am. I am excited, nervous, you name it I am. Any suggestions for the first few days post-op? will I be up to doing anything? How about traveling 4 days later? I can't believe its here.

i didn't feel like being up the first day...was kept overnight in the hospital and the next day i had a 2 1/2 hour trip home...no biggie...didn't feel like doing much for about 5days...then i was just sore...
I flew to San Diego from Georgia to have my surgery done in Tejuana. Dr Kuri and his staff was awesome and I would do it again in a heart beat. I flew back 3 days after surgery and did very well. Be sure to have loose clothing because I did swell quite a bit. In fact, I weighed 13 pounds more when I returned to Georgia than when I left. Kinda' freaked me out. But, 15 months later and 88 pounds lighter, I am very happy with my "Buddy". I still have only a slight fill from the original lap band and must have found my sweet spot because I only eat small bites of anything I want and it satisfies me. I am happy at 170 but I can tell I am still going to loose, so we will see what my weight stablilizes at. I am not buying a ton of 12's or 10's because I think they are going to be too big. :)
Good luck!!!!
Good luck newkimberly! Sip on water and other liquids throughout the day so you don't get dehydrated. Try to get up and walk around a little bit so you don't get too weak. Focus on letting your body heal during this time period and don't get too focused on the scale. Healing is your top priority over the next few weeks!
I felt great the first day, had my surgery at 1:00 p.m., was home by 4:30. I stayed up that night until 11:00 p.m. walking, watching TV, playing on the computer. I should have taken pain meds before I went to bed though - I woke up in the middle of the night feeling really sore. Pain meds work best if you take them BEFORE the pain is bad.
I was up early the next morning and not feeling too bad at all. But around the middle of the day it all caught up with me and I felt very sleepy. I slept a LOT for the rest of the day and the 2nd night.
My surgery was on a Thursday. I woke up on Sunday and realized I felt absolutely wonderful. I think part of it was just relief from the stress of researching the surgery, making decisions, arranging financing, etc. etc.
I could easily have traveled 4 days after surgery. I took more than a week off from work though and I'm glad I did. I found that I got tired pretty easily for a couple of weeks after surgery.

They should give you a list of what to eat (I mean drink)! The first few days for me was clear liquids...low calorie non-acidic fruit juice, broth, sugar-free jello, etc. Honestly, I wasn't hungry at all for the first several days, and I had to force myself to sip liquids. Good luck!
