Going back to work and FMLA.

I have a million things running through my mind (as you can see with all me responses and threads). Now I am worried about work now though. I work for USPS and lift up to 70 pound bags of mail/parcels. Will the Dr. do the FMLA paperwork for 2-3 weeks? I don't want to hurt myself or ruin the surgery.

If your doctor knows that your job requires heavy lifting, I would think he/she would gladly sign off on 2-3 weeks of recovery.

I was given 2 weeks through my STD coverage. My surgeon's office actually asked me how long I wanted them to put. I told her "I don't know, whatever is typical."

I too have a job that requires a lot of lifting and moving across a facility that is the size of 3 football fields. I asked in advance if he would fill out the papers for me to have FMLA and he smiled and said gladly! He signed for me to have 3 weeks off for recovery and 3 weeks of restriction meaning I couldn't lift anything over 20lbs upon returning to work. I can honestly say that I really did need the 2 weeks off. By the middle of the third week I felt a lot better. I was so weak at times I thought I was going to pass out. I wasn't hungry so I was consuming very little and not enough protein.

Best wishes to you and yours!!!!!!!
