Does anyone have a homemade beef broth recipe that has taste? The broth in the can tastes like tin to me. Thanks!!!

I ended up buying bullion cubes, they had more flavor---at least a more tolerable flavor!!! I did not buy the brick hard cubes, the ones I bought were sold by the small package, and were kind of oblong---and semi soft, dissolved very easily. I bought beef and chicken both---I know Knorr makes some, mine were actually an off brand, I think out of Mexico. They were pretty good though.

I have also heard suggestions of the flavor packet from Ramen noodles, is tasty. I thought it was WAY salty. But did not try but one flavor.

Welcome to LBT!

Get the low salt versions of swanson in the paper like pack or the one by Wolf Gang Puck. Both are about 1 quart in that packaging and are pretty tasty. I add dried onion flakes, oregano and some red pepper. Weird, I know, but when they simmer for awhile isn't all that bad. My pre opt liquid diet allows me broth with 2 cups of vegetables and today threw in one cup of green beans. Simmered everything for 30 or so minutes.

Thank you for all your suggestions. Today is my last day of Optifast - Yipeee. I'm actually looking forward to sugar free jell-o for the next two days. :clap2:

I keep bouillion cubes for cooking, so I planned to use those for the liquid diet. When it came down to it, I was really bored with broth. I did add the seasoning packets to it that you get from Papa John's. DH ordered pizza lot, so he would ask them for packets of seasoning. It's spicy and added a lot of flavor. But then I got lazy and the best liquid IMO was the liquid out of campbell's soups. My favorite was any of the chicken noodle. I'd drain the liquid out, heat up the liquid and enjoy.

I don't normally like broth out of the can either. BUT I have discovered that Swansons makes something called "seasoned" chicken broth. It has roasted garlic flavor and a bit of herbs. It's wonderful. If my meat is dry, I pour a tiny bit over the top. I poach my fish fillets in it. It's pretty decent. I have also found a Mexican brand of bouillon here in Texas that makes shrimp and crab flavor. It's WONDERFUL. It doesn't come in cubes. It's like a powder. sort of. You use 1 tsp. to a cup of hot water. I make egg drop soup with it. It gets the protien in me with little problem.
