BBQ Chicken for liquid diet

I've just invented a delicious recipe for those of us on the liquid diet.

I took a can of chicken, tossed it in the blender w/ a splash of skim milk and pulsed it until it was liquified. I segmented it into 2oz cups (cuz this is all that I can eat at a sitting right now). I then added a dallop of BBQ sauce and microwaved it for 15 seconds.

It's super! try it! and there's 15g of protein in the 2oz of chicken.

hey I was wondering why you can only eat 2oz?did you have a fill during surgery? or were you told you could only eat that? Curious since there are sooo many different things going on from doc to doc. I am restricted to 1cup. per sitting?

I am not sure if you checked with your doctor on that but no tuna was allowed for me until I entered my full food stage. It was not even allowed on mushy stage. You want to be very careful that you don't irritate your stomach or stretch the pouch. Liquids is generally broths ,proteins drinks, milk, water and jello. Just giving my 2 cents. Good luck, I know that is a tough 2 weeks.

Hi Destynee,

My surgeon has strict guidlines also. Once banded and in the 3rd month, I can have 1 oz (shot glass sized) of food 3 times a day from 60 g. protein drink. He said that his patients are satisfied with the 1 oz. I think it has something to do with the band being placed higher on the stomach so there is a smaller pouch.

Good Luck!

No, I didn't have a fill at surgery, I think that I'm just still swollen and healing and am satisfied w/ just a few oz.

Additionally, I wanted to take it slow on the liquified chicken (YES - liquified, one step beyond pureed).

I did speak w/ my doc about this, and his words were if it doesn't give me problems its ok - because it's a small amt. and its liquified (beyond pureed)
