Hoosierpoms, Juli's advice is dead on accurate. You should try to set your bike up the way she described, it will help a lot.
Juli, i'm not only insane I've lost it.... rode my stationary 15minutes last night before I went to bed! I need help. lol

OH my...50 miles????????????/ JC what are you trying to do kill us all here???? WOW..so impressed....are your legs still working after all that and THEN walking jogging???? Juli, I love it...23 miles....so maybe when you and girlfriend are together and enjoying each others company and the open road, she won't really notice the longer ride as much and you can go farther.....It always helps to have someone else to motivate you as you ride, so that might work.
I had a Schwinn Hybird and love it til I got to riding 10 miles a night then I got a little bit better bike. I it still a hybrid but handles and feels so much better.
Juli, I am doing better on the hills, and I think that I finally am getting some lung capacity built up, last bike trip I went up big hill and could talk at the top, usually can't talk for several minutes...so I think that is a good thing.

Shrinking Violet....may I ask what type of Hybrid you upgraded too?
I just love being active. You couldnt of pushed me out the door 4 months ago, and now I am taking time to walk, ride, and just be up and about....Loosing weight is a huge motivation as well...LOL
I would love to get to 10 miles....my husband is going to adjust my bike for me tonight, and my goal is 5-6 as long as it does not rain...Suppose to be nice here all weekend, so i plan to be out an about..

Looks like there are two threads on biking - I posted this in the other one but it looks like this is the more active thread!
I splurged and just bought a Specialized Ruby Comp (full carbon fiber road bike) and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I really hadn't planned to spend that much on a bike, but I figured I wanted one that would last 5+ years, and just enjoyed the fit (and look!) of this one. Oh well, you only live once, right?
I had a Polar bike computer installed yesterday but unfortunately even though I spent hours trying to get the dang thing to work, I'll likely have to take it back in today (got everything other than the heart rate monitor to work, but that's one of the reasons I bought the thing!).
Went a touch over 10 miles last night averaging well over 12mph - I'm hoping to go again tonight after my Personal Trainer kicks my butt and I get the bike computer fixed.
I had started trying to run a few weeks ago (doing intervals of running with walking, working up to more run than walk!) - but I enjoy the biking SO much more!!!

I got a Raleigh Venture 3.0 It is a comfy ride and fits me good. Hubby got one two weeks after I got mine. We are now saving for road bikes. We want to go fast and very long distances. I love biking also, it is so exhilirating...

Hey Banannie
Yeah, this thread is so much more active. Welcome.
Sounds like your new bike is super drooly. My entry level bike will do me well this year and next, but I see a new bike happening in 2009, and it's going to cost about $2009 too, I'm sure!
Howdy!

Deanna, my legs feel fine, it's my brain i'm worried about! lol
I rode my stationary 15 minutes last night as if I hadn't excercised enough.
I take some designer supplements before and after workouts. They help with endurance and recovery.
They come from a serious powerlifter. He has a lot of product that would be helpful for bandsters. I am trying to get him to tweak some products for us I will post more details tomorrow. I am shutting down early tonight have big project to complete in the morning.

I was just thinking of the new people who might want to join in and share....I love biking...Juli, you are just so knowledgeable about biking!!!! Its so amazing how a person can transform into something that they never ever imagined!!!

Deanna, Look at YOU!
JC-You're freaking nuts. God love ya. I feel like a slacker. :)
Banannie- There are different levels of interest here, but we do all love our bicycles. You'll find a ton of motivation on this thread. I know I do.
Peace Out ya'll.

Ok, I feel like I have never been on a bike before, it seems to be kicking my butt big times. We are not on our normal route do to the rain, and are on a gravel road, but we are trying to adjust my seat in order for it not to hurt my knees, and I feel like I am going to fall. When I am peddling, that my legs have never ever been on a bike. I am so upset. I was so excited about getting my bike, and for the first time in a long time I feel like I am not ready to be on a bike becuase I still have so much too loose.
I am sorry for whining, I just dont want to give up, and yet I feel totally unfit after riding just short distances.
Thanks for listening.

Not only do we love our bicycles....we love each other......LOL...we are bandster brother and sister ya know!!! Everyone here is so VERY supportive...I love every minute I can come on here and see something new someone has to say...it saddens me deeply to see the other threads with 90 or more people viewing and the exercise thread I think the most I have seen on at a time is 9.....WOW...that makes me really wonder.....not about if I am doing the right thing....but why people don't find this interesting enough to talk about it....
What the heck are you all doing your biking now that it is soooo damn hot...98 today...not sure I can take the heat and sweat.....
