Will they DENY me because I haven't been with them long enough?
I met a woman today who said she had a division of Blue Cross that denied her until she had been with their insurance for six months. Has anyone heard this? Is this common? Thanks

It all depends on the policy you have. Check to see if there are waiting periods with yours. I am with United Healthcare. I switched from my employer insurance to hubby's UHC insurance specifically for the surgery. It was a month or two before I finally got the ball rolling but I was easily approved.

I have BCBS and I just got on it July 08. They are making me do a 6 month pre-op diet before banding....but they already pre-approved me for the band.

I have BCBS PPO out of WV.

It depends on your plan -- check with them. I have BCBS Federal and was approved 3 months after signing up with them.

I was approved with GHI about 2 months after starting the plan. I had to do a 6 month diet but I started it before I started the plan anyway.
